2021 Covid Updates
Due to Covid, the Pinewood Derby this year will be different. The Pack will record the races and post the videos for the scouts to view. We ask that you drop off your car at one of the times listened below.
Thanks all for your flexibility as we keep the traditions going in this very untraditional year!
Car Kits
Car kits will be available at the Cubmaster's house (see email for details). Kits will be free this year for Pack 455 scouts and available for purchase for $5 for siblings, friends, and parents.

Pack 455 uses Northern Star Council Standard Pinewood Derby Rules
Keep in mind that cars must weigh 5 ounces or less in order to race.
Car Pick Up

Pack Specific Rules
Each scout needs to be in uniform (properly worn - blue/khaki pack shirt buttoned up and tucked in).
Each participant must be a registered Cub Scout by 2/1/2021.
Pack 455 will follow the official rules provided by the Northern Star Council Boy Scouts of America found here.
Each car will race 3 times.
Cars not turned in at the weigh-in will not be eligible to race.
Cars that leave the track during a race are eligible for one re-run. If the car leaves the track a second time, no re-run will be allowed. If a car leaves the track because of another car striking it, the car that was struck will be re-run.
Awards
Top Racers: The top ten cars will receive trophies, based on the top average speed of three runs. In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by the fastest single run.
Best in Rank: One scout from each rank will also win an award based on the Scout's Rank members voting

Open Class
The top 5 racers will win a trophy. Anyone can race in this class. Parents, Siblings, or Friends can test their car building skills and see how they do on the track. If you need a car kit, they are $5 per kit.
Cozy Cub Cafe Concessions:
We will have a large concession stand open during the race. The money raised from the concession stand is used to cover the cost of the Pinewood Derby room rental and awards.
Due to Covid, No Spectators will be at the event this year.
Silent Auction:
We will have a silent auction for family members to bid on from 11 AM to 1 PM. If you have anything you would like to donate, please contact pack455.redpine@gmail.com. The funds from the Silent Auction are used to fund our Eagle Scout Scholarship
